Ireland leads the way in internet penetration and online video viewing
Approaching 80% of adults in Ireland are now online, which is more than in GB. Over 85% of internet users now go online via a broadband connection and they are slightly more likely than their GB equivalents to have a wireless broadband connection.
A quarter of Irish internet users go online via mobile broadband – making them over twice as likely as their counterparts in Northern Ireland to do so.
With regards to what they are doing online, social networking is one area which is particularly prominent, with a third regularly visiting social networking sites. They are also 17% more likely than GB internet users to regularly watch video clips online and 13% more likely to regularly make internet voice calls.
