Arts attendance remains strong in Ireland

The proportion of adults going to the theatre, concerts and art galleries remains high after a decade of growth. Latest TGI data shows that 43% of adults go to the theatre, up from 37% in 2008. Art gallery attendance remains healthy at 26% of the population – the same figure as recorded in 2008 and an improvement on the 2006 figure of 16%. The live-music scene continues to rise with 37% of adults going to pop/rock concerts, up from 34% in 2008.

This general upward trend rests on the growing number of people who consider themselves interested in the arts – up from 25% in 2005 to 33% today.
