Increased broadband penetration helps Northern Ireland lead the way in online video viewing
Approaching 70% of NI adults are now online, with almost 85% of them accessing the internet via a broadband connection. This figure is only slightly behind GB where 88% of internet users have such a connection. However, Northern Irish online users are slightly more likely (7% more likely) than their GB equivalents to have a wireless broadband connection.
This high penetration of broadband gives Northern Irish internet users the opportunity to consume high quantities of streaming content and they are 11% more likely than their GB counterparts to consume at least an hour of online video a week.
The top online video sites visited by the online Northern Irish population are Youtube (49%), Facebook (22%) and Google Video (7%).
